    Unhappy HUGE diablo problems

i think i made a huge mistake.... i updated my diablo without puttng the original file back into the car then doing the update. cause now i cant restore my original file into the car its saying: invalid file data(0) then when i try to do a performance tune it tells me: This vehicle needs an update, but the tool is married to another vehicle. but when i check the last tune that was written its for the CAI+91 octane and after that shows my VIN number. so if the last installed tune is my car and its showing my VIN whats going on? did i make a huge mistake with updating the diablo without putting the original backup into the car first? and is it possible to fix this?

had to call diablo and at first they couldnt do anything for me because i didnt remember the last update that i had in the diable when i did the tune in the car. so they told me i would have to go to the dealership and get the original tune put back in the car then get a letter or some sort from the dealer showing that this was my car that i brought in the have done. well i got off the phone and was a little pissed off at myself. then after about 4 beers, i realized, well why dont i jus look on the computer at the last time i updated the DSdownloader because that would have been the last update i put in the car. so i did that then called back and told them the day and they said well at this this time this update was availiable, but if it not the right one it will lock up the car and u will have to tow it to the dealer. well i said whatever and tried it anyways and luck was on my side because it was the right one.

Glad to hear their customer service was able to help you. My Diablo is on its way right now. Does it come with instructions that tell you things like re-loading the original back into the car before updating or is that something we are supposed to figure out on our own?

The steps are pretty obvious, but the biggest help is going to be:

    1) This Forum
    2) The Diablo folks on here

Like the old saying..."measure twice, cut once"...don't be in a rush to do something with it. Check and double-check. Ask questions first.

Also, do yourself a favor by saving your back-up (origional tune) on your PC.

there is a instruction book, and if u cant find it there its mostly likely on the site and if not u can ask in a threat on the forum. and lastly if still nothing then there is always the hotline. more than likely your gonna have to update it as soon as you get it cause its not gonna have the most recent update. i had to do this on both that i own.

it had nothing to do with not doing my homework, i just saw that there was a update for the diablo and decide well hey im not doing anything let me update. can u tell me where in the manual that it says to put the original file back into the car before you update?....diablo didnt have a answer for that either. but it all worked itself out. but like it was said. always save the original to your PC and dont update before putting the original back int the computer.

    All good advice,,, thanks.

Another question,,, The canned tunes that come with the Predator already have all the settings required to unleash the beast that resides within our hemi's. Is it really necessary to constantly download and update everytime a small tweek is made or is it ok to just leave well enough alone or maybe do it once a year or so?

yeh canned tunes will unleash power for sure. as far as the lil updates. i really have no idea, but when u look on the diablo site it will tell you what they changed with the update. i.e. Release 18 (Idle surge fix, Autostick fix for 06-07 5.7L), stuff like that. but i know you can release even more power with a CMR tune. the canned tunes are just for the overall hemi, but every hemi is slightly different where power can be pulled from.

I'm still working on mine, so far all the Diablo has done is make my car slower, boggier and made my dealer question my warranty. I don't know what to do at this point. I didn't think I'd ever say I miss my SC but........
