How long is too long to wait for dealer parts...

I took my Magnum in to get a couple minor things fixed under warranty; the famous dash noise, a broken sunglasses holder, and a messed up cig lighting storage unit, and a couple of worse susp. part on the front. Its been over two month and they are still saying the parts aren't in and don't call to update me. Is there some kind of parts shortage?

yes, seemingly because of the Bankruptcy perhaps...

I ordered some Torsion Struts on April 12th and got them August 14th.. so yeah, major back order problems..

huge backorders on LX front suspension components as well as quite a few brake components. trust me, ive seen crazier stuff. oil filters on back orders. its hard to get parts when the manufacturers close down too.

well... as a parts employee (not part of chrysler) ive seen back orders take up to 4 months to fulfill (but this was aftermarket stuff). OEM parts usually release with in 6 weeks. Any longer then that and there are some big issues. Im sure there is alot of this type of stuff slipping thru the cracks with chrysler re-establishing their business.

But there are also a few different ways to pull strings. If Chrysler is still producing and making cars... the parts are still there. I've talked to tech line on numerous occasions and have had parts overnighted from japan to fill critical backorders.

you should talk to the service manager and the parts manager to see what is all possible. (but be very polite, because this type of thing does not happen for the average joe and they are doing you a HUGE favor)

i tried to order a mag fender and was informed they were on back order till who knows how long and there was well over 550 orders in front of mine...

This does not make me feel good. I've got a tension strut on order. Was supposed to be a 1.5 week backorder and now we're truckin' along to 3 weeks...

u r not the only one.nationwide b/o's are the norm now.but it is steadily getting better.parts r pumpin now.
