How to change rims without hurting yourself.

What a PITA, but I like to do these myself. I want to know they are properly torqued by hand.

At a certain age, it is just a pain and I mean that literally. These things weigh about eighty pounds and are not pleasant to install.

I've come up with an idea that will make this job a whole lot easier.

OK, it was a beautiful day in NE Ohio and I decided today to get these rims on. These are the stockers I use in the Winter.

I bought this creeper at Autozone...

It was perfect, because it had an indentation where the heavy Summer rim would sit.

This was a good time to wash the wheel wells and calipers.

My idea was to jack up each corner, one at a time, and then roll the creeper into position and raise or lower the jack until the lugs lined up and I wouldn't have to do any awkward lifting that would effect my back.

It turned out to work perfectly. I think there's an opportunity to develop a DIY device that would be more user friendly. And the final result is that the "Summers" are on!

I hope this helps some of the other older members or any with back problems make this job easier.

Ezekiel 25:17."The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

I have too many toys somethings got sit in the corner sometimes. I used them on my enclosed motorcycle trailer so I could park it tight to the wall & still be able to slide it over to drop the ramp door when needed. I had a heck of a time finding any local until I checked Menards.
