Question HID temp, which is better?

I'm planning on purchasing a set of HID's but have question. What tempeture gives the best light output, or what are you guys running?

    4300
    5000
    8000
    9000
    10000

    your in-put is appreciated.

    Thanks

Best would likely be 5000. As you go up you go more blue or cool tempurature. The 4300 is a warmer colour tempurature. Keeping in mind of course that 55watts is 55watts no matter what tempurature so its the same light output for them all.

THe HID temp only impacts the color of the light, not its level of output. As the man said 55watts, is 55 watts. I have 8500 on my car now...have a really nice blue look to it!

I have 8000K on mine. Nice blue color. Supposedely, the lower the K's the brighter the light. The higher the K's, the less light output.

4300K if you're using them to actually illuminate where you're going. The human eye can not resolve detail as well, the bluer you go.

It's more than output, it's usuable output that counts.

If you like the colour of a bluer light cause it looks purdy, then you can go up in temperature. Higher temperature is not higher output, nor is is higher visibility.

^^ what he said. You can't 'use' the blue as well, but it also appears brighter to oncoming traffic simply because of the color.

hids run at 35 watts btw..

i personally never get a kit higher than 6000, no lower than 4300,

3500 for yellow fog hids..not all vendors carry them that low though..

    Thank You Haz

Kewl... i was just quoting 55 watts for standard lights cause thats the type i know, since i dont run HID's and didnt want to guess at their output.
I know that our eyes are the part that actually fools us on interpreting the colour as being brighter when its not

i have 6000k hids and people tell me they look purplish, but they look white to me, from experience the lower the k the brighter the light, but i think they will still have a blue or purplish tint to them.

If you bought some aftermarket hack, you really have no idea what you have.

4300K is the whitest and brightest, if you want some blue in it go 6000K, but you will lose some brightness, any higher will be too blue/purple and not very bright.

    here is my 4300K

    Stock headlights with Sylvania ST

    Stock headlights with HID 4300K

    Projector headlights with same 4300K

BTW: you should get this kit so you won't have the flickering issue: E-bay HID kit / no flickering.

    Flickering problem: HID flickering fix.

Thanks everyone for their .02 cents, I am looking for the temp that will give the best light output and not blind oncoming traffic, but also has a nice blue/purple tint to it. I guess I would say which one would be closer to factory hids, or what temp do most automobile manufacters use. Best match to OEM.

    Thanks
