    Help My dad's demon again!!!

Ok, I think we have all had it with his friday before christmas/birthday/anniversery/whatever else reason to party car. With all the problems he's had, he could have traded this one in and had an SRT8 already. Now his motor is making this horrible whistling noise. I'm praying that it's a vacumm leak, but it is coming from the EGR area. I checked around for holes in any of the tubing, but nothing. It sounds like a spinning disc or something, sort of like a turbo blow off valve, except he has no turbo. Its a 2005 Magnum RT.....Anyone wanna buy it???? It's got a lot of history. Here is the video.

My car is fine, his is going in tomorrow for the mirrors getting fixed(wire in the door jam sleve is most likely cut and shorts out the entire power mirrors and left door lock) and now this. I thought maybe an animal at first, but it would have died by now...its been making this noise for about 2-3 weeks now, and it keeps getting louder....Oh, and it could be coming from the top of the motor, specifically at the odd circular spot with the unlabeled dipstick in the middle of the intake manifold.

That's def. not a vacuum leak...this may sound stupid, but it either sounds like the belt is too long and is slipping under load, the belt is hitting on something like it may be off a pulley a little bit, or maybe the idler pulley is bad on it.

    just my .02....goodluck

I didn't think about that....but anything is something at this point......But if it were that, why is the noise coming from the rear of the motor.

It's hard to tell where engine noises are really coming from. When my idler pulley went bad on my V6 I swore the sound was coming from the upper part of the engine in the intake manifold.

That is a really weird sound. I'm sure TBird or Fnky would be able to tell you what it is. If there's no CEL it's probably not too serious.

A/C was off....it gets louder with the A/C on. If I drove it everyday, I could tell you everything, but he drives it. I think the idler pulley or PCV valve would make more sense. I'll wait a little longer before I go look at it again, before it goes to the dealership.

Louder with the AC on? Definitely sound like a belt issue. What about the intake manifold or various hoses sucking air; cracks, bad gaskets???
