    Help, CD Burning gurus!!!

Ok, so I made a CD with a bunch of 2pac albums burned to one CD. I did this as a Data disc on a CD, now when I open it in windows explorer to see the files, it shows them all in each folder. But when I put it in my Nav or in Windows Media Player, it only shows like one or 2 albums and only a couple songs. How do I get it to show everything, I know its all on there, b/c they open in IE and show all the folders of each album. HELP!!!

Also, if you don't own the rights to a track/album then it will not let you play it, unless your connected to the internet. So it will only work on the computer.

If you can play it on the PC, then you can burn it to disc, that's been my experience anyway. If you have protected files, burn them as audio and then re-rip them into your library.

All the same files. Its saying on my comp when I go to the properties its a YMP.media file. I thought they were mp3, but these are from my ipod, that I used some program to get them to this computer. They play fine in media player, burned to the disc as audio files, but when I put the disc in, only certain folders with 1 song each comes up, and on another one I made, only one song shows up total. When I put the CD in the computer and I open it in windows explorer it shows all the folders, I click a folder and it shows all the songs in it. But it wont do this when I open them up to actually play them.

If you bought them via Itunes, they are DRM protected. You have to remove the protection and save as mp3.

Its tupac... Computers dont like him... sorry your SOL

Make sure you closed the data burning session when burning... it very possible that you didnt, I dont know about the nav unit, but many will read a DVD-R that is not "closed".

Another issue could be the folders... Try buring them into 1 directory...

Im burning them to a CD, and I think I closed it. The Nav has no problem reading it, its just that it only shows like 1 or 2 folders. But when I open it on the comp in windows explorer, it shows all the folders and files. What is wrong.

IPODS save MP3s to some weird-a** format probably the YMP you mention. If you didn't get them from ITunes did you have them on your computer somewhere BEFORE you put them in the IPOD? If so use the origonals and you're good to go. If not then you have to convert them back to MP3s before you burn them (do an internet search on how to do it, I've seen posts but don't remember where).
Here's a couple of tips (I have over 40CDs of stuff in the Mag) Does the Mag with Nav play MP3s? I don't have the Nav in mine so I have to burn regular CDs (until I have the $$$ to get the harness to plug in the IPOD right to the radio)
Keep the MP3 in one file and then make a 2nd called IPOD MP3s and put the ones in there for Itunes to load into the IPOD.
USE MUSIC QUALITY CDs. On long trips (or detailing the car) the player wil really generate heat and cause errors. Music CDs use a deeper layer so the heat doesn't affect them.

Ya, itunes saves them to mp4a and aac files. I have these files on my computer which is in for service, but I transfered them from the ipod to this computere Im using so I dont lose the songs if something was to happen to my HD. The songs play 100% fine in the computer and on the CD that I burned. I just cant get the players to see all the folder, it only see one or 2 folders, but all the folders are on the discs I burned.

And yes the Nav will play mp3 and even Data Discs, it shows the disc I burned with the folders, but not all of them will show up. This is what I cant figure out and why its doing this. When I open the disc to look at the files on it, the comp shows all the folders then all the songs in each forlder, but it wont do this on the player or the Nav in my car.

i've never heard of a ymp file extension. i have a feeling that's exclusive to what you're using to pull them off of your ipod. are you on a mac or a pc? you can just copy the files off without any lame-ass third party program and potentially eliminate the problem?

Im on a pc. I dont know what file ext that is. I used some program to pull the files from the ipod to the computer, you cant just plug the ipod in and get the songs off it, so I had to get that program. They play fine on the computer and play on the burned disc, well the ones that actually show up.

I think the problem might be the file extension. I was able to put the CD in the Nav and find all of the folders finally, but only the files with mp3 would show up, not the ymp files. So now Im just ripping all the cd's to WMA and gonna go reburn my data disc and try it all out again. I will report back when Im done.

If you didnt know about this before, you can use one cd for a bunch of music and group it each in Folders for each artist, or like Im doing, Each Artist gets their own CD and in the CD is a bunch of folders for each Album, then you open that folder and the songs for that album are in there. No need to cary 1000 cd's with you anymore, or if you dont have the ipod plug in from mopar.
