    Headed to Baghdad...Prayers needed

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and wishing you a Happy New Year!!

I'm asking for prayers for a coworker's (retired Army) son (Army/Infantry). He left for Baghdad a couple of days before Christmas. He will be gone for a year.

I need help to override/cancel out this bad feeling I have...

    Thank you.

    Prayers given for sure!

I'll ask our pastor to add him to our prayer circle as well.

    May God give you...
    For every storm, a rainbow,
    For every tear, a smile,
    For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
    For every problem life sends,
    A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

You have my prayers as well. It's funny that I'm seeing this today. My nephew's best buddy is being deployed soon, and I spent a lot of time talking with my sister about this. My prayer's are twofold - one that our troops have the support they need to stay safe while in harm's way. The other - that this be over sooner rather than later.

Thank you for your support! I've had other friends/coworkers have family members leave for deployment, but I've never felt like this...I hope its just a feeling of sadness for all that must leave their families this time of year. Even as I type this, I'm shedding a tear and have a heavy heart.

Thank you, guys and God Bless You.

Prayers continually given on this one. I remember about 4 months ago having that exact same feeling about a good 300c owner and friend. At the Mopar Nationals, Phil Smith was riding around on a gas powered, stand up scooter and was doing about 8 mph when he bumped into someone. Phil weighs in close to or over 300 lbs, and the bump sent him flying in an arc about 6-8 feet. He landed on his forehead with his full body weight behind him. He was life flighted by Helicopter, within inches of his life. He wasn't breathing on his own. That day I couldn't shake the bad feeling. It just wouldn't go away. The paramedics and nurses at the Hospital afterwards were not at all optimistic about the potential outcome. I started praying for Phil that day, and every night right as I close my eyes, I say a prayer right before falling asleep. He is in my prayers daily. At that time all I had was a bad feeling to go by, but I kept praying no matter what happened. After a few weeks of searching for family members, not knowing whether he was going to make it through the coma or not, Phil began to slowly stabalize.

After weeks on life support, a coma, brain swelling, months of hospital time, and then months of therapy, and many left messages, not knowing what condition Phil was in, I finally recieved an update...

Christmas Eve I received a call from a stranger who was trying to figure out who I was in his phone book. It was Phil Smith and although he is not 100%, he was still Phil, alive and ticking. He remebered who I was after talking for a few minutes and we conferenced in my cousin who had flown out from California to help me out at the Mopar Nationals. He and Phil were playing around on the gas scooters and had been seperated for a few minutes when the accident happened. We had a great conversation and a few laughs and I can't begin to tell you how relieved I felt after saying prayers daily for Phil and not having any idea how he truly was.

I will pray that your feelings are comforted and that your friend is kept safe and returns home safely. Prayers help the praying too, not just the prayed for.

Prayers ascending. If you send me his address over there, I will send him a copy of the Armed Forces Prayer Book I wrote last year. It is designed to fit in the pocket of a BDU uniform.

If any group wants to send them over, you can purchase packages of the books (I do not receive royalty) at a discount price. There is a link on my web page (www.azlutheran.org/mtcalvary) to purchase the books from the publisher, Autom Company.

    Blessings,
    Padre

    Dear GRL70,

I have 2 nephews flying Apache's and 1 in special forces over there now.

All I can say is that to me and my family they are all hero's. Your worries have been added to our prayer list along with my family as we all are one family in my book. I spent some time doing my part for my country and it worries me knowing what they are going through first hand. However, no matter personal feelings toward the war and actions being taken; all deserve our support and respect.

It was an honor for me to support my country in action, my family members consider it an honor to support their country in action and I'll bet that your family (and it sounds as if he is) will consider it an honor to serve his country as well.

With a chest that swells with pride and tears that are shed with support, I say "VICTORY" and God speed.

    Best regards,

    Greg
