    Hail Damaged SRT8s!

We had a wicked series of storms pass through here last night, dropping golfball-softball sized-hail in the area.

At my house, we got the slightly-bigger than golf-ball sized - thankfully, I park in the garage!

But as I listened to the weather on the radio, one of the reports was from the local NBC affiliate who was reporting softball-sized hail which eventually knocked out a couple of their radar dishes.

This station is right next door to the Dodge dealer in town.

    Right. Next. Door.

In an earlier post, I mentioned that they had finally gotten some SRT8s.

In another post, I posted a picture of various custom chargers they had.

Now, they all have hail damage. I just drove by there earlier tonight, and even in the dark, I could see the SRT8s peppered with good-sized hail dents.

Ditto for the custom two-tone paint job Charger from the above thread.

I'm sure the 6 Top Banana Daytonas (another was out front, and the 8th was in the showroom) they had in the back lot also got hammered.

    Oh, the humanity.

Here's a pic of three pieces of hail that I stuck in the fridge after the storm blew out. The one on the left had easily shrunk to half it's size - it covered my palm when I picked it up. The other two had also gotten a lot smaller overnight.

You would think they would sell them at a discount. Wrong. They will just get them fixed by a paintless dent removal place and they will look as good as new.

I don't disagree but people will swoop in for a deal and the dealership advertises a hail damage sale. It happened here as well.

We had those same storms. We actually had an F-3 tornado about 1/4 mile from work.

The Magnum has a soul. It has a personality, something all too lacking in the automotive transportation appliances everybody else is offering.

Hard to repair aluminum body panels. Here at work our Mitsubishi EVO-8's have aluminum hoods and they are usually cheaper to replace, than repair.

That's how I am getting the SRT8 hood, I'm paying the difference what insurance pays for stock Daytona hood to the cost of new hood. Two body shops agreed replacing hood is cheaper than reworking, it had something to do with stretching.

Looks like those Paintless Dent Removal Guys are going to be busy. Warning-if your car is damaged try to pay for the fix yourself. I made a hail damage claim on my Twin-Turbo 3000GT VR-4 and the repair now shows up in CAR-FAX. Although the car is fixed, it could hurt your negotiations should you decide to sell your car privately.
