    Glad I kept the Magnum!

Some of you may remember a rather heated thread a while back, where I was considering "upgrading" to a GT500. Well I figured I throw an update into my flanky brain when it comes to cars, and say well - I'm glad I kept the Magnum.

The MSRT8 really has been a great car. I've had it for a year. I've made it through one winter with zero problems. I still am surprise how well it does as a RWD car with All-season tires. I've had some fun loading it up at home depot several times, something that lesser cars simply can't help you with! I had enough lumber to build a bed, and shelving all at the same time. I've had some fun on some road trips, full passengers with enough room for ALL of our junk in the back. I still made 20MPG with 4 people and their junk as well. Its a car you don't see everywhere.
Magnums are barely common, you see many more of the 300C and chargers. SRT8's in any trim are even less common, and I know of only one other MSRT8 in my area. I've always liked cars that aren't driven by everyone.
The car is big and comfortable on the highway. Its fast in town but not a drag car. I think it really shines at maintained high speeds. Tons of passing power, and feels solid as a corvette at 100+ mph....not that I have every tried that...

I have test drove a couple of C6's shopping for cars for my girlfriend. I had a C5 and still miss having a small sports car, but really thats the kind of car you want for a second car, and in all honesty though the C6 is really fast, really really fast, they are kind of janky feeling. The interior squeeks and rattles. They are rough riding, and noisy, and don't have the kind of solid smooth ride of some foreign sports cars. But vettes aren't trying to be anything more than what they are.... and they are like go-carts! But after these test drives, I appreciated climbing back into the magnum, how quiet they are inside, and at least for me, how smooth they drive. And though perhaps the srt8 LX's aren't a magic smooth carpet on the road, after driving a trans am, a C5 corvette, and an SRT-4, the Magnum rides like yacht!

The Magnum was a smart purchase, and I think it really fits kind of a odd nitch, that appeals to me. It does about everything pretty well, even if not any one thing really well. I can see actually paying this car off and keeping it.

same here man. I plan to run it up to 50k or so and then pray I can afford another daily. I miss driving a truck everyday but don't think I can part with the Magnum SRT8...

Good choice!! I am feeling the same way. She's a keeper, and hoping for over 200k miles. Closing in fast on 40k already. I love driving it!!
