    Gas price negative effects

How many on here have either seriously considered (as in shopping around) or already gotten rid of their LX strictly because of the gas price issues?

No, but I'll probably be trading in my 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ on a used Escape hybrid this Fall if things don't change. The 5.7L HEMI gets better mileage than my Jeep.

They will have to peel the HEMI out of my cold, dead hand.

    Drive, then drink.

LOL .... love it! That's the same way I feel! Any time I think of how much gas is costing me, I think of how much and econo car would cost! Even if it's a used one, I'd still have to buy gas, insurance, perform service work, etc. So I just look at it as ... how far can I drive what I have on $10,000 worth of gas!

Naa, I'm driving my Magnum more and my Ram less. Ram has been averaging 17.5 mpg and the Magnum 22-23 mpg. I'll never go back to a tiny humped- up econobox. Life's to short to subject myself to a tiny car.

My Honda Accord V6 got 24mpg, my Hemi gets 22. That in itself is a no-brainer.....

Actually, I'm considering trying to take advantage of the high gas prices to get a 2009 Challenger RT at a good bargin to use for my daily driver.

The Dakota R/T being my daily driver, at $5.00 a gallon, I will spend $400 a month in gas, at 13 MPG. If I bought some 4 cyl. sh!tbox that I could stand to drive, but got double the mileage, it would be a wash. My payments would double, and insurance would remain about the same.

No point in it for me, I would rather drive the Dak.

The Magnum is reserved for nice days and probably will only see maybe 2000 miles a year. I could have that sitting in the garage, or a street bike, or a quad, or a boat, or.... well, you get the idea.

I never plan on getting rid of my MSRT... but then again the wife and I still have 20 other cars to choose from. I don't drive mine in the rain or at night because of the bugs. (It's an 06 with 3300 miles) We always keep six on the road and switch up when we get bored... LOL.

My Charger is cheap life insurance compared to an econobox.
