    Fu#king dealers!!!!!

So I had a tear in my drivers side half shaft and had been putting off the fix until I got the car out of storage. Well I got my car out, got her all cleaned up and made the app. with the local dealer here in Spokane. Now I have big time reservations about going to a dealer...it's the last option. I told them I was very picky about my car...didn't want it starscaned and to please just be careful with it. They seemed very cool and really it all went smooth.

Picked up the car...no grease all over the handles or on the steering wheel...all seemed cool. I paid the $100 deductible for the 7-70 power train and off I went. 2 days later I get home and see a puddle of oil in my driveway...great!! I crawled underneath the car and now I am leaking oil from the rear end...I mean WTF!! And they wonder why they are going bankrupt...just one more reason to not want to buy another American made car...EVER!! I am going to call the manager and try to be calm...wish me luck with this!

All that happened was when they pulled the axle and replaced it or repaied it they nicked the seal.

    It happened sometimes.

Ya it's probably no biggie but the point is that a simple fix like that and they messed it up...come on! Now I have to set aside my personal time for their screw up...my time is money just as theirs is. So in my opinion they should pay me for my time now to bring it back in.

It isnt the dealers fault, nor is it Dogdes' fault it might not even be that the mechanic messed the seal up. Lots of times a seal will take a set to the axle and all it takes to cause a leak is to move it. Trust me its alot easier to put a seal in while the axle is out than to have to go back in there later. Be calm and it will get you alot further than a raving mad man, they might even offer you a loaner.....good luck

I would also thank them for covering the repair under warranty in the first place, considering your powertrain is quite modified ...

Technically, you should've paid for the whole repair (your high-perf heads/cam put extra stress on the trans and the rest of the drivetrain, therefore causing it to operate outside the parameters it was designed for by Dodge ... easy decline at my dealership ... )

Just a quick little note to this: I AM A CHRYSLER TECHNICIAN, number one, number 2, have you ever tried to remove and replace a falfshaft in one of our rears? I highly doubt it. Many things to be disassembled if the vehicle is NOT on a flat rack and if it is, grat care should be taken in the removal process. Sometimes, a seal can get nicked, an neither the technician NOR the owner will know till it's too late.

Somtimes it is good to keep in mind that regardless of HOW MODIFIED your vehicle is, we do try to or best to help the customers we have. Additionally, it might be of little consequence to yourself, but as a FLATRATE technician, warranty work kills US, the guys that actually DO THE REAPIRS, because we usually have to find WORKAROUNDS to be faster so as not to loose our shirts repairing cars that only come in for WARRANTY work.

So remember, just like you like to be paid for the work that you do, and hopefully YOU do it right and do not want to be rushed, the same applies to us. It may be an old saying, but haste sometimes TRULY makes waste.

No matter HOW GOOD you are, mistakes happen, and that's what makes us human.

I agree with a lot of the things said. So first I am very thankful they covered it...if they didn't I would have done it myself. Second I understand that stuff happens but why is it that when ever I take a rig into a dealer it NEVER comes back as I left it. It's either grease on the floor mats, door handles, headliner, driving it through a mud puddle, leaving wrenches under the hood, forgetting to do something they said they would....ect...ect. It's just very frustrating...I would rather go to the dentist 5 times before I take my car to a dealer once! I love these cars I just wish the people paid to work on them loved them as much as some of us do.

you just gotta find the right tech. not everyone loves their job. mistakes will still happen but at least, you'll know care was taken not to damage your ride.

Thanks for the insight and can fully understand. I just hope most dealerships treats their customers this way.

Amen to that....every time I find a good tech and service manager they always end up going down the road...I am not pissed just frustrated. They did seem to take care of my ride...they should have just done a better job on the install and making sure it was free of leaks.

as magnumman426 said, leaks may not be obvious until several miles later.

I couldn't disagree with you more ..... not only is cutting corners (aka "WORKAROUNDS")never the right way to repair anything, it's also highly unethical and could land the dealership AND the technician in a lot of legal trouble.

During my career in the automotive repair world, I was the shop manager of two different dealer body shops. I completely undrestand the undercut labor times that warranty pays compared to the "real world" labor guides. But if you're going to work in that industry, you have to take the good with the bad. Warranty times are most often balanced out with the "real world" guides' elevated times and shop policies of a one-hour minimum for things that only take 10-15 minutes to perform.
So go ahead and gripe and complain about the times, but do the job right.
