    Front Plates

Well after almost two years of owning the car I finally got nailed for not having a front plate. Pulled over on a surface street by a Highway Patrolman complete with sirens. I thought he was after someone else because I was just "cruisin" along. I guess I shouldn't bitch to much because he didn't hassle me for having the front windows tinted. (rolled them down right away). He said they are starting to crack down on front plates because people are running red lights and the cameras will take your pic and without the front plate, blah, blah, blah.. Didn't hear much of his speech because I was thinking how crappy its gonna look with the front bracket on now. Anyone else heard this speech yet?

Don't want to dwell on this topic too long because I don't have a front tag on my Magnum either but I think that officer deserves the famous National Flag

I'm holding off on mounting mine... want to find a way to fasten it to the honeycomb lower insert so I don't have to swiss cheese my fascia. Anybody know if the cops tend to be understanding if you at least keep your plate in your front window?? That was my temporary half-assed attempt at staying out of trouble.

California law 5200(a)Vehicle Code-Vehicles issued two plates SHALL be securely fastened to the vehicle-front and rear.

Other LXers were busting my chops because I did have one on mine. It fell off believe it or not. Now I got a replacement and here it is

    IMO it doesnt look bad.

Its not BS. Its the law. Been the law for a very long time now in California.

Yep, my plate mount (plastic) wonty even fit with the T rex lower grill installed.
I have 4 plates, the DMV scrwewed up. the people that drive with them on the dash are too funny, not legal either!!

Prolly otta mod the bracket and keep it and the plate in the back so I can installit onsite if messed with.

Fix it ticket, here, I'll fix it right now for 'ya!!

I love CV codes Jose put up, yea, we know, the plate just looks like crap on the front IMHO.

When I bought the new Charger from the dealer, I asked that they not attach the plate because I didn't want holes in the bumper and I wanted to figure out a custom install. I was going to zip tie on the plate as soon as I got home with the new baby.

But, on the ride home from the dealer (the VERY FIRST drive in the new car) I got a ticket for no front plate. I explained everything to the cop but he was just not interested. On the whole the Metro Toronto police officers are a reasonable bunch; this guy was the exception to that. Took me a few days to calm down and reinstate our company's annual donations to the police games and veterans christmas dance.

I live in Kansas (Kansas City) where you only get one plate for the rear. My '05 300C was licensed in Kansas so I didn't have to have one on the front end. However my new '06 300C Heritage Edition is leased by my company based in St. Louis, MO and the car is now licensed in Missouri. In Missouri, you have to have a front plate. I'm not going to put it on. I figure I don't drive in Missouri much so my chances of getting pulled over and ticketed for it is pretty slim.

I am curious as to what the fine is for a front plate violation in your state/province? I would rather pay a couple of fines for it than mount the front plate.

In California, its a fix it ticket. A $10 court fee and get the ticket signed off by a peace officer after you correct it. Now if you take it off again and you get pulled over again you can get another ticket. If by chance you get pulled over by the same officer, you can get a failure to comply citation which carries a heavier fine and you still have to get the ticket corrected.

You decide what you want to do.

Get one made up with the LX forums "Skully" image on it.

The Magnum has a soul. It has a personality, something all too lacking in the automotive transportation appliances everybody else is offering.

See my sig below. I mounted mine low so it doesn't block the look of the Mag grille. It's simply a plate mount zip tied to the lower fascia. Very solid, and looks great.

Does anyone have a pic of a 300 with the plate mounted low?
