    Front End Clunk Fixed, but...

Well, I finally got under the car this Saturday to see if my assumption was right about a bad tie rod causing the front end clunk that I've had for the last month or two. I was able to determine that the drivers side outer tie rod was inded bad as I could move it up and down and could actually hear the clunking when I was doing that. I went and got a replacement from Pep Boys and got it fixed. No too bad. Counted the threads when taking the old one off. Took her in to get an alignment and they said they couldn't do the alignment because the other one was bad too. The clunk was gone after replacing the drivers side so I though I was good to go. Guess not. I will try and get it done tonight.

Just replaced mine a few days agao and I also need to go get an alignment. I was having a clunk and the steering was sloppy. The handle degradation was so gradual I didn't really notice it until I replaced the tie rod, now she turns on a dime. However I still have a very slight faint clunk over slow bumps, not nearly as bad as before but it's still there.

Got the passenger side tie rod done last night. I learned if I turned the wheel I could get at it without getting under the car. The threads on this one must have had a buch of junk in it because it was a bear to get off. Had to use a cheater, aka O.E. lug wrench, to get 'r dun. Driving to work this morning I noticed that the steering and feel improved again with less slop. Droped her off again to get the alignment done.
