    Fog light switch...

I noticed today while driving home I'm not able to turn off the fog lights manually using the fog light button. I'm assuming this may just be a bad switch as I didn't find any other answers doing a quick search of the boards but if someone else has an idea what may be causing this I'd appreciate the help.

To recap...The foglights do turn on and off with the headlights (both automatic and manual), the fog light indicator lights up on the dash but I can't seem to turn them off no matter how many times I hit the fog light button.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Chris

This happened to me. I could not get them off for NYS inspection, then once off could not get them back on unless I pressed and pushed, jammed and wiggled the switch.

From what I can tell all the switch does is toggle a bit in the FCM from 1 to 0 and back when pushed. Then it is left in memory. I bet if you disconnected the battery and reconnected they would be off and you could not get them back on. This issue is probably why they redesigned the switch in 2008. A new switch is about $50.

    Good luck.

Thanks guys, would a 2008+ switch fit or should I attempt to locate a 2006 one?

New switch fixed it for me. Is the old switch worth anything to anyone? I only ask as its got the auto on selection... If not I'll probably just junk it.

I wouldn't think so since the fog switch isn't working. But that's just my guess. Someone will take it, some people just can't stand to see anything get thrown away. LOL

If you can solve your problem, then what is the need of worrying? If you cannot solve it, then what is the use of worrying?
