    Flat Black Paint Job

What's the cons to having a flat black paint? Is it hard to maintain? If you have done it can you post pics also.

depends on how it is done.

if you use a 1 stage flat paint with no clear (I did) it is a total B*tch to maintain.

if you use a 2 stage with a flat clear, then it is no different than any other paint job.

There was no "reason" other than I didn't do enough research and let a body guy I had known for years talk me into it..

If I had to redo it, I would have gone with a complete flat vinyl wrap, cost would have about the same, but I would not have had to repaint when the car got damaged or sold.

As it was the car got vandalized which resulted in a big mess with the insurance company because they could not blend or match the paint, and the insurance company had a special rider on my policy for custom paint.. It was a huge mess (there is a thread or two on the mess here somewhere), and I had to repaint the vehicle with a normal paint otherwise the insurance was going to deny future paint coverage.. So it was repainted to this:

There a place in coney island new York that does flat black wrap for 1400 bucks an they include interior an tail lights. Was thinking about doing it down the road. But does a person need to change the title of car ? Since color is different then ?

no title change is required in CA, i've changed vehicle colors dramatically before.. you can go to the DMV to update it, but as long as the plates matcht he VIN color doesn't matter

How durable is the vinyl? If you were to get a nick, does that ruin everything?

JbHemi-If you do not get interior pieces done will they go lower then 1400?

My hood (and top of front fascia) is 2 stage with flat clear. Wash-n-wax just like the rest of the car.
That said, it is still a biatch to match if you need to have future work done. I had to have the hood replaced and repainted... it did not match the fascia. Had to have it all redone at the same time.

And Marc... I still love those pics... makes me want a 300 BAD!

I was quoted $1000 for just the decal, and I think it is enough to wrap the whole car. It's the 3M stuff with a 5 or 10 year warranty I believe
