factory uConnect upgrade question: mirror clearance?

I've got a 300C which has the auto-dim mirror w/ the rain sensor. I'm planning to add the factory uConnect.

I see that the uConnect mirror has the microphone on top.

In my car, there seems to be almost no clearance between the top of the existing mirror, and the bottom of the overhead console.

Has anyone else noticed this, and was it an issue during the upgrade? I would hope the new mirror sits a little lower to leave room for the mic at the top, or is it supposed to just sit a little recessed behind the overhead console?

Hope this makes sense. I'm about ready to order parts, but want to make sure it's going to fit. Thanks!

By adding "factory uConnect" do you mean ordering the accessory from your Dodge dealer??? This does not replace the mirror I believe. The mike is separate.

Nope, not the accessory unit, but the factory system, as it seems a number of other people on the board have done. So it does involve replacing the mirror.

Also, related topic, has anyone posted a how-to on how to run the harness cable behind the dash, and to get the extra wires up to where the mirror harness plugs in at the bottom of the A-pillar? I've only had my car a short time, and haven't taken anything apart back there yet. How big of a job is it?

Won't be a problem at all, there are many 300's with the rain sensor and factory UConnect. The mirror will work without a hitch.

I swapped the auto-dimming mirror on my 300 for the uconnect mirror when I did my uconnect and no problems with cleareance.

The mount for the Uconnect mirror hangs lower.
