    EVIC Temperature Display Question

I bought my Daytona Charger about a week and a half ago. The temperature readout on the EVIC typically shows about 10 degrees warmer than the actual temperature.

I noticed that under the hood the Air Intake tube is much warmer than the tube was on my Magnum and was wondering if this has anything to do with the temperature problem.

The Intake Tube on the Charger appears to be made out of some recycled rubber or something and is "soft" whereas the Magnum seemed to be made out of a molded plastic.

Has anyone else noticed their '06 LX EVIC displaying the wrong temp, and is it possibly because of the Intake being warmer, or is this just a me problem?

I did notice a warmer temperature display on my Magnum when I had the MOPAR CAI installed also.

    Thanks.
    Oh yeah...You know it does..........

I believe this to be valid:

Go into the EVIC diagnostic mode.

    Find the TempAvg/TempRaw display.

Use the -> button to adjust the TempAvg until both numbers match.

There may be another step in there, but it should be obvious when you get there.

Oh, so I have to basically adjust it myself? That is cool. Cuz seriously, it is like 10 degrees difference.

You can adjust it yourself. That is the neat part.

I had to adjust mine several times, but only when it got over 100.

I've done that and it just creeps back up to the original 10 deg high display reading. Is there a way to save the change in that EVIC diag mode. I've tried a number of buttom presses and combinations without success. That screen has got to be useful for something.

I did it 10-15 times today on the way home when it was reading 93 deg when it was actually 84 (3 bank displays and the radio weather guy all agreed it was 84 today). I tried a number of button combination to get this new TempAVG value to save.

After some frustration I just watched it in diag mode. TempRAW goes up real fast to well over 110+ when you are stopped at a traffic light. There are also two numbers that zero when you are stopped after a change forcing TempAVG to a lower value. They don't start changing until you are over 25mph or something then count up to 999 (one on the right side, after that the left one increments slowly). If you stop at another traffic light before the count is maxed to 999, then it counts back down towards zero while you are stopped. If you drive long enough to make it max out, then nothing happens to the numbers at the next stop unless you press the button to lower the TempAVG again.

WTF is all this and how is this useful to fix my 9 deg calibration error?

Why on earth is the sensor in the front near the engine where it will read 110+ deg when I'm stopped, therefore requiring some crazy program to average the reading so the actual display value "attempts" to show real temperature? I would have just stuck the thing in the back (away from exhaust of course). What am I missing here?

Ok, thanks, but can you explain that screen and what all the numbers mean and what pressing the right arrow button and changing the TempAVG is for? It's so perplexing! :|

no idea. please remember that i do not own an LX, so i can't experiment with all the bells and whistles anytime i want. the only time i can play and learn is when i have some down time at work, which is not too often. most of these features i learned about from this forum. when i get some free time, i'll look into it and try to find out. stay tuned.
