    E-brake adjustment

Does anyone know how to adjust the tension on the e-brake return spring? Sometimes the brake won't release all the way when I pull the release lever. I've had it to the dealer twice and encountered the dreaded "cannot recreate" response.

I think it would be simpler to do it myself, if I knew how.

    TIA.

return spring tension is not adjustable. if the pedal doesn't return to the full released positon, something's sticking.

I had the same problem and the dealer told me he adjusted the sensor that activates the dash brake light to show the parking brake is not fully released.

Why do I get the feeling more infractions are coming?

that procedure is to de-sensitize the warning lamp switch. the pedal should still return to the fully released position (against up-stop) when the release lever is pulled.

    Interesting. I would have throught...

The pedal comes up short of the stop when released. Heck, for all I know it's bouncing off the stop when I release it. I'll go after the assembly with some PB Blaster when I get a chance.

I'm not sure that the dealer who reset the sensor did you a favor. Fixed the symptom but not the problem, if indeed there is one.

I think my dealer did the right thing.
I can pull the pedal up another 1/4" or so but I asume at that point that it's fully released.
I think the switch just thought the parking brake was still set.

I'm having exactly the same problem. It always seems to happen after my car has been baking in the sun while at work.

When first releasing the brake, the pedal does not go up all the way. I have to pull the release again and use my toe to push it up the rest of the way... maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch.

So has anyone found a real fix for this instead of de-sensitizing the brake indicator light?
