Dumb Question: Where does it tell you your speed on the GPS screen?

I am trying it validate my speedo is correct after changing the tire setting in the SC Flashpaq. I have seen threads of people talking about comparing their speedo to GPS. Where is this done, I have looked but don't see it. Of course I am driving while doing it and am paying attention to the road at the same time.

    Thanks

I too have seen those claims, and I've always concluded that these guys must be running aftermarket GPS units. Never seen any reference to speed in the stock NAV... If I'm wrong, I'd love to be corrected...

They're running handhelds, not the REC head unit.

You're all right. There is no display of vehicle speed in the NAV. You would only get it with a portable GPS unit, or some of the aftermarket decks. There are even some cell phones that can show this information.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I will have to do it the old fashioned way and drive next to a buddy and yell "How fast are you goin" out my window.

I use my GPS V for speed checks. Sorry it is not displayed on the onboard system.

Better idea than driving down the freeway doing 90 and then looking at what it says on the ticket

I've made note of it, and as stated above it's on an aftermarket GPS... Magellan Roadmate700. Press the "Locate" button and you get lat. and long., elevation, speed, compass direction, and a description of the road you're on, county you're in, and town or township you're near.

go into diagnostic mode on the EVIC and check your speed there, I have noticed that my gauge is off by 2 mph in relative to the EVIC reading....

Or, find a cop running a speed trap:

" 'scuse me officer. Can you help me out? I want to check my speedo, and would like to drive by you at 50 in this 55 zone. After I go by, I'll swing back around and get a reading. OK? "

Officer responds with a "Are you freakin' nuts" look.

I will check out the EVIC in diag mode. I was just over analyzing this a minute ago as usual. But, since I changed the wheen size in the computer and I am not sure it is correct to the vehicles speed. Why should I belive what the EVIC says over the speedo which I don't trust at all. Did I not just change the computers programming so the EVIC could be just calculating based on what it was told. This would mean that I would need a stand alone method to report the vehicles actual speed. Told you I was over analyzing, but this may be the only correct was to truly baseline the results.
