You folks have perhaps seen driving shoes on sale. What do they do? Their thin soles let you have a better feel for the pedal, let your foot flex more easily for more precise pedal control and their stickiness or abrasiveness promotes a sure, slip-free grip on the pedal.
The down side? A halfway decent pair will easily set you back a C-note.
Forget that. A "water shoe" will typically net you the same deal: ultralight, sticky soles, great feel thru the highly flexible sole. Just wear a pair of socks and they're basically slippers you can wear all over the place without looking *too* goofy.
I got a pair of Speedo brand shoes last year and wear them all over, not just when driving. I just saw them on sale at Costco again and picked up another pair for this year. Same shoes but different colors. Got the blue ones this year.
Do yourself a favor, get yourself some and put em on before you go for a drive. They're perfect for the upcoming low-impact Spring LX Festival Autocross Event.
