Do you get a loaner/rental when your car is for service?

Well in light of my recent experience w DCX service...I am wanting to know...
For those of you that have had your car in for Major Warranty work..ie not just a 1 day thing or oil change...did the dealer provide a loaner or pay for a rental for you. I keep reading threads where people are always posting about getting a loaner or free rental when their car is in for service...I was told and expected this would be the case as well...so I am just wondering what the percentages are as I am told this varies by dealer.
For those unfamiliar w my recent issue...click here... Is my Hemi Dead? I think so... :(
    Thanks

    hell no...

I had to drive my inlaws mini van for a week, the mini van wasn't bad but I swear a small animal crawled inside it at one point and died, thing stank like crazy and I refused to investigate the odor.

EDIT: And I even have the extended warranty..

I was given a very big discount on the maximum care extended warranty when they tried to "sell" the car with full mfg warranty, then at the doc signing tell me the it was from the "in service" date since it was a dealer demo. So I've been told, and it says in the contract, that anything over a day will include a rental.

Now at mitzi's chevy dealer, they give her a rental without the extended for anything more than a day.

damn even the mazda dealerships gives out loaners, even if y acar is only in for a day, drop it off in the morning, they give u a loaner to get to work..they way it should be with a more expensive car like the mag..

at some point dealerships need to stop trying to save a buck, and provide a lil customer service/appreciation..

    Thank You Haz

Mine originally came without a free rental. Then I had the issue with the blown engine due to the recall. The service writer first told me there was no loaner. I was pissed. Since my uncle sold me my car he went with me to talk to the service director. He said I would get a free rental.

Well once everything was resolved, they gave me the "added Car" extended warranty for my trouble which includes a free rental whenever I take it in for any service at all. And they provide me with a free rental for 5 days after wards should my car need warranty work done.

I guess I was spoiled driving Fords all these years...I never really had any big issues w any of teh many Fords I owned and the dealers always gave me a free rental if the car needed to be there as litttle as 1 day or as long as 1 week.
Never in a million years would have thought DCX would be different especially after spending 45k on a car, and being told otherwise by the sales staff...IMO you shoudlnt have to buy an extended warranty to get a loaner when it is covered by the factory warranty. Live and learn I suppose.

Rental if I want it but so far it's only been in once for something long enough (trying to get the front "clunk" fixed - still trying). Other than that I wait..

Thanks for the posts and votes everyone this is interesting to see.
I guess I cant get over paying a couple of hundred bucks for a rental while they take their time fixing my car in the shop for a few weeks. Maybe I am the only one that thinks that is nuts lol.

I put down yes, but I had gotten a rental when the 300 was in the body shop.

The rear bumper was scratched up and there was a small dent on the left rear quarter panel.I had bought the 300 on the condition that these things would be taken care of.

    I don't know if I'll get a loaner for a service stop.
I think all they offer is a shuttle.
Not too much of a problem as the delearship is about a mile from where I work and Enterprise Rental is a block away.

Enterprise picked me up in a Cobalt, then when we got back to the office
the saleslady told me I could upgrade to a Magnum for 3$ a day.
    Tough choice

I really liked the Magnum rental and I hope I can snag it again when
my 300 goes back in for service.

A lot of us dealers think it's nuts, also... but, DCx refuses to step up like the foriegn lux brands( and some domestic as, well) so we look like a bunch of no caring dolts... AND MAKE NO MISTAKE, the factory is who pays ( or doesn't) for any kind of rental coverage... A friend of mine has an Acura, nice car( doesn't really do it for me), and when he takes it in for service... BAM! free loaner... usually the latest and greatest thing out... example: he already told me how he was having an issue with his trans, they put him in one of those new RDX's and he bought one for his wife when his car was done... talk about marketing!! no wonder they are kicking our a--...
Currently: "Vanessa" 2006 Charger R/T with all kinds of little details and a unique red bee stripe... just passed 100k milestone!!!
