LX Disable horn when remote start is used.

This is starting to bug me.. I have the mopar remote start.. I have to push the button twice to start which results in two honks followed by a third after it starts..

Is there a way to stop it from doing that? I have seen this installed where it doesn't honk.. Is it just a wire I gotta find and cut? or is there some other way to disable it? I know it's not integrated in the EVIC..

    Ideas? Anyone?

remove the wire from the horn relay in IPM (under hood), and tape it to harness.
Izzy pics money talks. unfortunately, mine usually says... "good bye!"

The green wire running to the Fuse box

Ill post what FnkyCkn posted to me :

"to defeat the horn beeps, follow the green wire to the relay box on the right side of the engine compartment. remove the relay and disconnect the green wire attached to it. tape the wire back to the harness. i never install the horn wire. just in case one of them happens to be my neighbor and decides to start his car at 4 AM. i figure i'm doing a public service."

Found it.. that was easy.. was wondering what that stoopid wire was for.. looks like they used a drill to gouge a slot on the plastic so the wire could be run.. wonder if it causes a problem with moisture getting in.. dunno..

pulled it.. was a snap.. yay.. is quiet now.

Now if I can find a way to start the engine and not have the stereo on.. ;-)

oh.. and my wire is green on one end and black on the other.. (spliced somewhere)..

    Thanks guys.

Sorry to bring up an old question on this but what is the best way to remove this relay? I found the wire and it is green until a connector and then it becomes black and runs into the fuse box. If this is too confusing I can provide pictures.

    Thanks in advance.

Pull the relay out... disconnect the wire attached to the leg.. plug relay back in.. takes about 10 seconds. :-)

I disconnected the wire attached to the leg, pushed the relay back in, and closed the box. I hit the remote start once and get a single flash of the turn signal, like normal. I push it a second time and get a double flash and the car does not start. I reconnected the wire to the leg and it remote starts fine. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

was the hood open? 2 flashes on second FOB press means a safety feature fault. most likely the hood switch. if hood was closed, you'll need to replace the hood switch. common problem.

Problem troubleshooted and solved in less than 10 minutes. It was the hood being open. I never noticed that safety feature before this. Thanks guys. Damn lxforums is awesome.

Yep, sure would suck you be wiping down your fanblades and the kiddo plays "start the car" Same reason behind the horn, I"m sure, also might be a hedge against animals, also. REgualrly, your unlocking and opening the doors would scare a small critter out, but with a remote, they never get that.
