    Dealership question

I have a weird question. Several Chrysler dealers were closed in the Detroit, MI area. On the list was a Bruce Campbell Dodge on Telegraph. http://www.brucecampbelldodge.com/

Now, I've driven by some of the other dealers in my travels (I drive alot) and they are all cleaned out. But Bruce Cambell is still open, stocked with cars and with a sign that reads "25 years in business and here to stay"

Now, did Chrysler reconsider some of the dealer closings?

Some dealers are ramping up thier used car business and service business, etc. Chrysler only told them they cannot sell NEW Chrysler vehicles. They are free to do all the other things they have been for years. Some of the dealers in my area are going to remain open this way.

I was wondering the same thing...

One of the dealers in my area that was not on the list has a very empty lot. Just a full front line and the whole side and back lots are empty! Doesn't hurt my feelings any, as they are a less repuatable dealer, but still...

I thought that he might be selling only used cars, but he's website is still up, showing new and used Chryslers.

Chrysler didn't "close" anything. They simply severed their relationship with certain dealers, which means they can't display the logos or sell new cars, rebates, file warranty claims, etc.

They can still sell "New" Chryslers. They can still sell the new cars on their lots. They can't offer "Factory" rebates, "Factory" extended service contracts or other "Factory" incentives and will not recieve any more vehicles from the factory.

One of the local dealers here said their options were to turn their remaining new vehicles back in at a $1500 loss per vehicle (about $1.4 mill) or try to sell them under the previously mentioned conditions.

Either way not good for them.

Does a "new" Chrysler have a warranty if it is not sold by a dealer?

It should. According to what they told me:

It is still a new vehicle and comes with all standard warranties. They, the former Chrysler new car dealer, can not promote, offer any perks or honor extras from Chrysler like Chrysler extended warranties, Chrysler service plans, Chrysler rebates, Chrysler owner loyalty vouchers and so on.

I haven't talked to them lately, but they said after the deadline, if they had any cars the best they could offer would be about $1000 below invoice which would be about $2000 more than the day I talked to them.
