    Coolant overflow tank cap removal.

For some strange reason I can't seem to open my coolant overflow tank. The cap twists and releases some pressure but it won't come off. I don't want to force it off and break something.

Does anyone know how to take it off? I want to have a look inside. My engine is cold.

After the first 1/4 turn press down and turn. You have to press down hard enough to compress the spring while turning.

Though admittedly I've yet to attempt this, I've always assumed it to operate like a standard radiator cap - press then 1/4 turn CCW to release pressure, then another 1/4 turn CCW to remove. No..?

OK, got it off. It is like a childproof cap.

Also, it looks nasty in there. I see some residue that looks like crystals or something growing. I'm gonna mention that at this Saturday's oil change.
