    code p0700

I finally get around to installing the TCM that MR. I acquired for me a while ago and I get code p0700. Is there some learning procedure I need to know about? or do I need a starscan to install the TCM?
My magnum is an early build and nothing seems to be easy on these early builds. Any help is appreciated.

I'd talk to Marc, I threw that code a few times and it had to do with my revs and shift points being out of sinc inthe predator tuning.

I thought the TCM didn't require the use of a Starscan and it was the PCM that required it. I might have it backwards. I also seem to recall reading several posts with people getting codes afterwards etc and that it needed to go through x amount of drive cycles etc to set and adapt or what not then it was all good to go. I'll look and see if I can dig up the post but I swear that's what I had read...

Derrick, I was under the same impression as Unabomber about the TCM vs. PCM requiring a VIN encoding via the StarScan. I know that I can swap TCM's all day without any necessity for a StarScan, whereas the PCM is VIN specific.

BTW, Jim, I responded to your PM.

EDIT: I actually meant the Mopar TCM and my stocker....neither of which needed a StarScan to install.

I just read Marc's post and now stand corrected. Derrick.......you're still alright.....I don't care what Josh says!

I tried resetting the codes with the Predator but as soon as I restart the car bingo CEL on. I didnt try to drive it to see if HAL would learn.

Also my PRND wouldn't change when going thru the gears.

A mechanic at work knows a guy that might help.

    Both need a star scan..

a brand new TCM needs to be programmed / aka Sync'd to the car... it is not VIN coded but it does need to know what motor (3.5L, 5.7L, 6.1L) and what model (WK, LX etc) it is married too..

once the TCM is programmed on any car it can be moved to another car without issue as it does not require a VIN, it pulls that from the PCM.

but a NEW TCM must be married to a car the first time it is installed..

Mr. Magnum Man, My apologies, when I got yours I did not have my star scan yet, the guys at GSM programmed it for me..

seems maybe it wasn't done correctly, and I was not allowed to see/watch/check it I was just told it was working...

please send it back to me and I'll program it for you, I have my star scan now and can make sure it works..

    Marc--

PM me your paypal addy so I can send you the funds to ship it back..

Thanks for clarifying this issue again Mr.I as I did earlier in this post...We install these dozen of times and was the FIRST Vendor to exactly come out with the upgraded TCM's though Mopar for the LX's....

First thing that needs to be done is to read the code. All a p0700 is is a set tcm code which you'll have to access the tcm to read the actual code. p0700 sets in the pcm to tell you there is a issue tcm wise. Once you access the tcm with starscan you can read the code and a failed communication code will show that the other guys are right about the programming. if its something else other than communication there is another issue. Once you access the tcm you'll get a po7** code from it and you can go from there
