    Chin Spoiler Mod

OK, I picked up the Daytona chin spoiler today at the dealership for $89. Got myself into a good one now. A bit nervouse about drilling holes in the bumper, no room for error. Do any of you chin spoiler pioneers have any tips to keep me out of the weeds on this one?

    Thanks

Sorry no advice for ya, but I'll be watching this thread very closely. I'm gonna install mine this weekend. I've been looking for a "How to" but can't seem to find anything.

I would get some help during the customizing process. Getting to to fit will be easy if you can line it up with to people and get it tight to the fascia. I did it all by my lonesome and it is hard to make sure the fitment is good from wherever you are sitting. And forget those silly rivets in my opinion.

Are you leaving it black or colour matching? I'm a lilttle nervous about colour matching... afraid it will flake when I get it back from the painter when I go to bend it at the notch.

I am going to leave it black at first, it should look agressive and match the fog light covers. I was thinking of painting it with Dupli-Color and clear coat. It may cost more than I want to spend to send it to the paint shop. I am gonna give it a shot this weekend. Am a little worried about getting it to fit right.

I totally agree with DARTH, fitment is a two person job. I didn't use the rivets either, nuts bolts and washers, towards the ends where it curves around the side I used self tapping screws. I also used a coating of bondo on the top of spoiler to give it a smooth look instead of the rough plastic, also hid some of my cutting sins, sand and paint it, ready to go.

Any pics? Did you colour match it to the car or leave it black?

I have an inferno red, I left it black because of all the black trim pieces allready on the car, it blends well and didn't have to worry about matching paint perfectly. Not sure if I have a picture of it will look around when I get home.

    Same here.

Also, is there no way to use the screw points that already hold the front fascia and just use better screws or even push pins like the ones holding the top in the engine compartment or even the ones holding the door panels?

--I am not just asking about the panels since I already ordered extra, I just really like the way they work.

The chin spoiler does not leverage any exiting bolts or push pin spots. You need to drill 10-12 holes in the bumper to bolt the spoiler to. It comes with push pins, but I think I will use self tapping screws.
