Charger Totaled or Not???

I've posted this elsewhere but I'm interested in opinions. Yesterday, my daughter drove her ride in the rear of a one ton Dodge. We lost. I'm really wondering if it is going to be totaled. I'm interested in someone who has been here or someone that does adjustments/body repair giving opinions. I'm probably going to go look at the car this afternoon and try to get a better idea of the damage. What should I look at/for? The airbags did not deploy. The front wheels were not impacted (the fenders were not driven back that far and the wheels still turned freely). The best I can tell, the engine was not moved. My Air Raid CAI was bashed up but not destroyed. According to GPS, she was going under 30 mph. I have a hard time believing it is totaled but many that have looked at pics think it is. what do ya'll think

did the air bags go off? looks like the truck was lifted. motors mounts most likely broke window shield didnt crack. ITS hard to tell what the insurance company is goin to do.
ITS a 06 so they may scrap it. but see what the damage really is.

Airbags did not go off. I don't "think" motor mount is broke. Motor looks untouched and in place. I looked around the engine bay quite a bit at the scene to see if I could see any damage to motor. I was surprised how intact it seemed to be.

Definitely TRANS COOLER/RADATOR/COOLING FANS/RAD SUPPORT/HOOD /FENDERS (actually, maybe only one. Passenger side seems to be untouched unless it was damaged by the fascia pulling loose)/NOSE/LIGHTS(even the passenger side Headlight and side marker are intact unless a tab is broken.

The frame horn is the big question. Most of the damage is "high". Like you said, the truck was high and on a RR crossing so it was even higher. I speculate that is why the hood is so jacked up and the airbags didn't deploy. The driver's fender is pushed back to the driver's door (and a little "under" it) but it did not damage the door. My daughter wisely exited the passenger side so she didn't force the driver's door open and cause more damage.

It is my understanding that my insurance co (USAA) sticks pretty close to Kelly BB. In that case damages would have to exceed about $16K - $18K to total it.

I dont know if its totalled or not but luckily you have USAA. There customer service is second to none. Sorry to hear this.

Ouch! She's definitley alright? That looks like a major crunch! But our cars are built very well. I hope they can repair her! Like on that MAACO commercial!


Is this the daughter who just recently got the SRT-8? I remeber seeing a thread on Charger where a member has just bought 1 for his daughter.

Wait, I took another look. That is a lot of fluid underneath, especially in the back area. Keep us posted!

I bought it back in March for a steal. It was kinda rough so I had some minor body work done, wheels, Zoomer catback, LED halos, CAI and gave it to my daughter although I actually drove it more than she did.

Yea, she is fine. she was only going about 30 mph.

The fluid is from the radiator and trans cooler.

From what I have seen in business it all depends on the insurance company and adjuster. It take and estimate of roughly 75% of the value of the vehicle to total (have seen it as low as 60%) It does not look like it will total...and to be honest it is better on you that it was a front end collision verses a rear cause the front end is essentially bolted together where as the rear would have to be cut and welded.

Neither actually. She said the truck in front of her started slowing so she got on her brakes and a big cup of ice in the cup holder turned over. Sounds about right since she has a tendency to brake way too hard and way too late. When the cup turned over she jumped and looked down at about the same time the truck stopped - BAM.

Its kinda funny you mentioned the texting because I took her phone to see if she had been texting while she was driving. I have a GPS tracker in the car that allows me to track the cars exact location and speed. That is how I know how fast she was going when she hit the truck. It stores 60 days worth of data. I looked at the the time she was driving and checked her phone for calls and texts and she wasn't talking on the phone or texting. I didn't really think she was because she knows that is a real pet peeve of mine and I would bury her if that was the cause.

I doubt it's totaled. I had damage to the front and rear of mine worth about 12K a year ago and it wasn't totaled. You're front end is worse off, but I'm guessing 8-10ish just based on what my front end was worth.... Let us know what happens.

Here is an 07 I bought at an insurance auction that was totalled. It het something in the rear or something hit it in the rear. Does not look like much and I drove it off the auction lot!
