    Cats (feline) on my Magnum

Where I live, there are a ridiculous amount of both stray and owned cats. As an example, I threw my trash inthe dumpster the other and literally 20 cats jumped out of the can scaring the hell out of me. With it getting colder, these evil animals are sleeping on my magnum. I'm looking at my magnum and there are muddy prints ALL over it. In addition to making it dirty all the time, i'm worried that these things will scratch my beautiful 1 1/2 month old baby. Can anyone think of a solution. So far, I let my 1 year old 85 lb. boxer "Roscoe" loose to wreak havoc nightly. As gratifying as that is, its not really effective. My next solution is to use some of Meh-hee-ko's finest M-80's and BlackCats left over from the 4th of july. I NEED HEELLLPPP!!!!!

How about putting her to bed in the garage every night??
A cover helps, but that would just give 'em traction for climbing up!!!
They have some repelant at the pet stores for furniture.
Hang CD's on fishing line around the car, works for birds around my pond, never know??

I use the PANIC button to scare the local cats away before they get to it, but if you aren't able to watch it, there really is no way to stop them (aside from a garage, which I'm guessing you do not have the luxury of parking in).

Cats will scratch your car. No doubt about it. Even worse I've had cats peeing on my wheels (previous VW Jetta, not on my Magnum). Parking in the garage is the only solution. I don't believe the "repellants" work.

On the bright side, I assume you don't have a rat problem

Our outdoor cat likes sleeping on warm car hoods and scratched the hell out of my old Passat wagon. For my wife's car, I throw a cover on every night. So far, no scratches.

If you don't mind your car getting wet, you can buy a motion sensored sprinkler and set it next to the Magnum. Maybe a long shot, but just a thought.

I have cats, my neighbors have cats, my nieghbors neighbors have cats, and we have no garages....what a pain in the arse!
I cover my baby every night, it really helps. Spend some time and really get that paint protected. I use Klasse highgloss glaze, which leaves an acrilic sealant on the paint. Really really good stuff. I finished her off with a good coat of Meguires Gold class wax. If you have the paint protected, and you keep her washed reguarly...like once a week, you shouldnt have trouble with the cats scratching your baby through the cover.

Put tuna fish on your neighbors car. Let him worry about it. Just kidding.

The Magnum has a soul. It has a personality, something all too lacking in the automotive transportation appliances everybody else is offering.

I appreciate all the tips even though it sounds though a garage is the only key. I think i'll wax the heck out of it and just try to protect it. But if i find one scratch i'm following the advice of the wise LeeReed, feeding dishes of anti-freeze with Catnip everywhere!

YOu have the train tham that your car hurts them

I suggest a pellet gun with BLUNT pellets, unless you want to kill them.

YOu hav eto be care full about that as there are discharge laws that vary widly by area.

If you set up for a bit wait for them to get close and pop them they willlearn that your car causes them pain they will typically leave it allone.

YOu can also call local game warden or animal control and they will typicall trap and destroy feral cats.

Had a problem with cats a couple of years ago. Threw some moth balls around my van. No more cats.

If I saw a neighbor poisoning or shooting at cats with any type of gun I wouldn't want to be that neighbor. Wax the heck out of it so they slide right off when they try to jump on. Als from experience I am certain that cats hate mothballs as mentioned earlier. You could also call the animal control or set your own have a heart traps and turn the feral kitties in.

I thought about waxing so they'd slide off, but i know they have those retractable claws for traction. I have a BIG problem with cats in general. How is it that someone can own an animal that is free to roam all over the city damaging property (cars in this case) and its ok? If I see someone's cat scratch my car and i find the owner, are they liable for a new paint job, that is of course if i happen to catch the bastard. I may be going overboard, but I dont let my dog run around the city and creat chaos. Mostly I feel responsible to protect my own car with wax and covers and garages obviously, but i think those cats need to be dealt with also. Me 'N Roscoe goin cat chasin tonight though, thats fa sho

You can catch them with a Hav-A-Heart trap and just drive them to another town and let them go. Not that I've ever done anything like that.
