To Catch or not to Catch (can)
Along w/ changing out my CAI, I noticed that my catch can has only picked up about 2 Tbl spoons of oil in 7186 miles. I have the air compressor filter and realize that the filter in it just isn't suited to oil collection.
I also can't get past the idea that my gas motor needs oil to run. I have read many posts on here about people pouring oil out of their intake manifolds.
I cleaned my throttle body out and the gunk in there was astounding.
So, I removed the catch can and took a 5/8" bolt and plugged the intake port. Then I installed a Purolater filter #5851947 into the PCV side.
Now for the good part. I picked up 2mpg this morning.
I am going to check this out, but was hoping somebody else on here has done something similar and found any difference in their mpg.
I know HAL has control, and figure he has to work magic with the Air/Fuel/Oil mixture, so I'm gonna make his job easier and just let him do what Holley has been doing for decades, Air/Fuel only.
P.S. cheap catch can for sale. See next pic.
