    Car Over Heating!!! Help!

Well I just replaced the water pump, and thermostat, and my car is still over heating.
I thought it was the water pump or thermostat so I replaced both.
After I replaced both water pump and thermostat I took her for a drive and after about less than 10 min driving about 45mph the needle started climbing and I shut her off just right before it got to the red line.

Any suggestions on what it could be?
I flushed the radiator fluid and purchased new fluid from Dodge. Cost me 23.00 for the gallon because I know our enginges takes special radiator fluid.

    Please guy help me out.

yeah the fans are running, its over heating eaven while I am crusing at 45 mph.
I was thining air in the system, so when I got home and parked it I let it cool a lil and loosened the radiator cap to let the air pressure out.

    Any other suggestions?

    Are the fans coming on?

Do the 25-cent fan mod W/all three relays jumped out.

    (Bottom picture in this post)

    http://lxforums.com/board/showpost.p...34&postcount=3

You should here both fans running on high speed.

If the fans don't come on, check the fuse, etc.

If the fans do come on, drive it & see if there is any difference. in coolant temperatures.

If that cures the problem look into your fan controls.

45 MPH might not be enough to keep air moving through the radiator if the ambient temperatures are high.

If there is no change, the problem lies elsewhere.

    OK the fans are working.

I would remove the TSTAT & use a funnel to fill the block slowly untill it runs over @ the TSTAT housing. That will get most of the air out of the block.

Start it up & let it idle while monitering the coolant temperature & the collant level in the tank.

Also, moke sure the fans are running in high speed mode when the coolant tempetures got above normal.

After a good "burp" it should stabilaze.

The worst case scenario could be a head gasket. If all else fails, check the not so obvious.

I've seen this more than once...check your inlet and return hoses from the radiator, sometime they collapse and restrict flow.

Only a few suggestions, are you getting heat in the car, feel both rad hoses for temp. if you have a digital temp. meter, check all over the engine and all around the rad,[don't use your hands], maybe pull the tstat and test it in boiling water to make sure it is opening, could still have air. Let us know how the rad hoses feel after running and normal temp reading[idling], don't let the reading get to the red line too often

There's a 1/4" pipe plug at the top of the water pump to bleed the air out of the system when you change coolant or water pump. loosen/remove plug and let air escape when t-stat open's, when coolent flow's out replace plug. (with some teflon tape on it) coolant system should burb out all air now.

Good luck geting it out ifthe car's several years old.

    Mine won't budge.

This is the best way if the plug comes out. Removing the housing & using the funnel to get the coolant into the block will accomplish the same thing if the plug won't come out.

Head gasket? If it leaks into the combustion chambers there should be white smoke coming from the exhaust.
I have a hard time believing that its the head gasket.

Run it with the cap off and keep it topped up and have the heat on in the car. Its most likely air in the system just run it til it clears
