    Broken 5.7L (RT) Half Shafts?

Wasn't sure what forum to post on.

Knowning that there have been quite a few SRT half shafts broken, I'm wondering if any 5.7L (RT) half shafts have been broken.

Has anyone broken the half shafts that are stock on the 5.7L LX's?

As I understood from a few different threads...I had read that the 5.7 half shafts were supposedly like indestructable, compared to the 6.1's.

We all have some guesses why but nobody really knows. The 5.7 halfshafts seem to be the shiznit no matter what you do while the 6.1's are a ticking time bomb if you mod the car up to a certain point..

    Nope...

RT shafts are unearthly cheaper, but will not fit correctly.

No, the 6.1's have been breaking, No one has yet to bust a 5.7 half shaft.
That being said the 5.7's have just recently discovered HP/TQ well over the 400 mark, that and some 315 DR's and were gonna find out real soon how they hold up.

This is what I'm asking for.
Financially, I'm not in the position to pioneer test grabbing via drag radials over 400 hp/tq with my RT. Lou1355 is on his 3rd Quaife. It seems tha when the half shaft twists it does so in such a fashion as to seize on the Quaife.

Thats why I won't be drag racing mine; at least not until we've had more experience under our belts. My track tires aren't DR's but they are 2" shorter than stock, and very sticky. And I have a Quaife. And a converter. And a big motor.

Ok so someone tell me what's exactly gonna happen to the car/driver when the 1/2 shaft snaps? Im going to the 1/4 mile friday with tons of TQ and 315's. Id like to be a bit more prepared. although I dont think there gonna snap Id like to plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Matt, is your big motor running now? Thought you were gonna tear it down completely for full inspection and checking of dimensions and then make a report on this forum before you installed it.

Well, I watched Trojan bang the **** out of his in AZ last month. 16 passes and no problems. Now I've got my quaif in and a set of DR's coming for this weekends adventures. If their gonna break, I sure as hell wanna be the first guy to do it.
