    BROKE DOWN!! no first gear!?!?

    Nope! NOT mine! Buuuut....

A co-worker also has an '05 Magnum. He had just gotten off the highway, and came to a stop light. Light changed to green, and the car didnt go anywhere! In the VERY brief conversation I had with him...he said there was a high-pitched noise, and then nothing. Engine running fun...smooth..no problems... but it just wont go anywhere!

Any ideas??!? (until I get an update - tow-truck just showed up so he had to hang up the phone)

Atleast it is an 05 so if it is the tranny and he hasn't passed 70,000K he should still be under the 7/70 drivetrain warranty (provided he is the original owner or had it transferred).

    Hope it works out.

I had the same thing happen to me. The fluid had leaked out of a vent and gotten low enough that it basically went into limp mode where the trans "disconnects" itself from the engine.

I don't know. It might. I would think some code would have to show up.

Sounds like he's low on fluid. If it's low enough for the pump to whine it's bad.Probably has the leaking o-ring and never noticed the puddles.

So, I wonder how cost-effective deleting the transmission dipstick has been? Good decision or bad?

I used to check my other cars everytime I checked the oil - I've never checked my Magnum.

If you never park where you could see the puddle - unpaved parking spot, etc, I can see never noticing it until it's tranny rebuild time.

    I sure hope that's a warranty deal...

exactly what happend to me 2 weeks ago fluid was so low it went into a tranny limp mode. Shut it off started it and it was fine. I took it to the dealer right away and the fluid was low from the o ring leak

I'm thinking the same thing too....He's gotten it to a dealer , and hopefully they will see it as a TSB repair... I'll keep you guys posted, and thanks again for all the help!
