Unhappy Bosch Cooling Fan Relay / Wayek Inc.

Looks like Waytek Inc. no longer carries the Bosch relay for doing the fan mod.

OcalaHemi (Steve) found out that Waytek no longer lists the Bosch relay that was perfect for doing the fan mod. The relay had a part # 75114, which is no longer stocked. I did do some searching of their relays and found a relay (part # 75414) that might work, it is made by Taylor.

Just wanted to give a heads up for those that might be doing the fan mod in the future.

    Later,

If you are thinking the modified relay fan mod, I'd actually suggest getting the $75 manual version of the coolit mod from www.noesp.com

That's $75 including shipping, and it works the same way, but without the hassle of finding the right relays then taking them apart and doing the mod yourself.

In the long run, it's a deal...

I agree, I told Steve about Noesp, but he wanted to do the mod his way.

I have the (JAAK) fan relay mod and like it, but if it ever acts up, I will go with the NoESP mod.

I'm doing that too. But sometimes you want to turn them on manually. Like when the hood's up, the ignition's off and you're trying to get the heat soak out between runs!

After looking at the NoESP/CoolIt setup there are several wires they want you to splice into. They have you pulling fuses and what looks like a black relay and connecting wires to them and then to the boards they send. I'm a bit worried about all that wiring. I'm not an electronic genius, and don't want to short out my wiring. Wanting something more simple. I don't drag race my car, just normal driving, but alot of Hwy driving and want to cool it down a bit. I found that Jaak's fan mod was easy to follow and after finding a relay at Pep Boys I was able to do the mod. I would still like to find the Bosch relay.

I am going to have to move my probe down a little on the radiator, as I have not heard my fans come on with the probe. If I ground the wire to the probe the fans come on. The probe is set at 185 degrees. When I heat the probe with hot (boiling) it turns the fans on. So I guess it just isn't getting hot enough. My temp has been running 190-199 at the hottest point after doing the mod. I was running 217-225 before the mod.

The only thing I hate is at night on the track when you put it on or off all the lights going on and off and the horn beeping. I wish it just had a on ans off switch

Ya, I've found that does tend to raise a few eyebrows...

IIRC, for those who want to have their cake and eat it too (switched as well as automatic fan control using the Cool-It), it's as simple as switching the wire that runs between the two PC boards to ground. I haven't done it yet myself, but it's on the list. Trying to find that post as we speak...

Yeah, it works the same as the jaak fan mod in manual mode. That's why I like it.
