    Ball Bearing Shifters

I found this guy on ebay that sells big ball bearings ranging in size from like 1"-3". I have NO idea what it takes to machine one of these things to fit on our shifters but I would like to know. I love the look and would like to get one made within reason of course. I think the 2" would work perfectly. If someone could give me some feed back I would appreciate it. Here is the ebay link.

There was someone here that was doing them ESAD as the name as I recall.

Do a search it will come up. As I recall they are hardened and are a right bastard to machine.

The trick would be clamping it in so you could drill and tap it without marring it in the jaws of the vice.

I actually got the last Industrial Ball Bearing shifter from ESAD. When he announced that he would no longer be making them, the ball bearings where chewing up his machines, I bought the last one from ESAD's own ChargerSRT.

Here it is in my MagSRT. I painted the SRT letters Red. This shifter weighs a ton, I love it.

ball bearings are made to be one of the hardest metal substances they can be.... They are nearly the same hardness as the machine bits that you use to cut into them...
