Great article for those of us awaiting AWD R/T's.

The first one (R/T AWD) came down the line on September 13th.

I dont know much of what happened with the vibration problem, was it a problem that made it out to market or a problem discovered internally? If some DO have the vibration problems, does anyone know what DCX is doing to rectify the problems with the owners, replacing transfer cases for free?

Sounds like the "AWD Binding" issue that some AWD'ers here have experienced...

10,000 miles mine is starting to bind. It was built in dec 04 and never did this until last weekend. It happens in parking lots at slow speed.

I'm keeping an eye out for it, but thankfully haven't seen it yet (~13K). Sounds to me though that now that DCX has publicly admitted not only that there is an "issue", but even the nature of that issue, that we may at least have a leg to stand on when we take this problem to the service department...

They best be coming up with a plan to deal with us 05 guys with the first AWDs. I don't look forward to the day of having to confront the service rep when my tfer case has bound up and whacked the tranny, ujoints and diffs. I forsee ugliness a-brewin'

Slap me if this is wishful thinking, but I gotta believe that if DCX intended on hiding this from us '05 AWD owners (especially those of us that are already showing symptoms of diff failure), this would have been a rumor rather than a press release... <crosses fingers>

IIRC, while '05 AWD SXT production started right on schedule last August, AWD RT job 1 was delayed almost a month for undisclosed reasons. There were rumors even then that the AWD system couldn't handle the Hemi's torque output, but there was never any official word. Ten bucks and my left nut says that this was the issue...

There is already a TSB on this problem. You should not be too concerned.
