    Autostick question

    Hi kids,

Noticed something kind of weird last night while driving the wife's new Maggie.

In my Charger R/T if I am at a standstill and engage Autostick by "downshifting" it puts me in 1st gear.

In the wife's Magnum SXT if Im at a standstill and do the same it puts the car in 4th gear and I have to tap it to the left three more times to get to first.

    Anyone know why???

    Thanks!!!

    Chris

Do you have the Flashpaq installed in the R/T?

Going to 4 was the default behavior in my R/T before the Flashpaq.

Well, that sucks. Not that I should care seeing as its the wife's car. Just odd that it would be different I guess seeing as how they are both 06...

TCM programming is different between 3.5L, 5.7L and 6.1L.

IN my 06 rt,, if you hold the shift to the left it will take you to the best gear based on your engine RPM

Auto Stick - Diff between Mag & Charger

Ya I have a couple pennies to add to that. My '05 Magnum sucks compared to a Charger when it comes to shifting. The Charger is a lot "smarter" about shifting than the Magnum is. I did not see an explanation as to why that is.

I drove a Charger R/T for a couple weeks and I've had my Magnum R/T since February. The only other difference I can think of is that the Magnum is an '05 and the Charger might have been a very early '06. Did the TCM get "smarter" or better in the '06 models?

The flashpaq makes the shifting a little better in the Magnum, but nothing at all like the Charger.
Did the radiator cap mod: SRT8 is here....

My '05 RT was a little doggy... it did what you describe. The '06 SRT goes right to the correct gear though... I'm sure part of it is the year, part is the model. Try coming up wiht an excuse to get your dealer to flash it.

If you're sitting still, push the shifter to the left, and hold it a few seconds; it will go to 1. With the Flashpaq, it only takes a second. At least that's the way it is on my '05 Magnum RT.
