Owner's manual calls out Transmission service at 60k miles and the rear differential at 48k miles. I just did both at 60k miles and also my transfer case and front diff on my AWD. I didn't think 12K miles is going to make much the fluid that much worse?

I did my trans and filter at 47k or so, plannin on doing my rear diff this spring, should be at around 55k for that.

Very true ... my transmission was good for 60,000 ... then it stopped working! It only required rebuilding twice and finally replaced at 62,000!

i was talkin to a mercedes technician....... he told me dont bother dropping the pan to change the filter and just drain and fill the oil in the tranny..... he said once the pan comes off it will never go back on right.......

is this true? should i just drain and fill? or should i change the filter?

The 60,000 service I just did on my 2007 300C AWD:

Tranny (drained/filled per service recommendation - no power flush)
    Coolant flush/fill
Fuel/Air injection service (have to go back for this - I had "too much stuff in my trunk")
Plugs (was told no need for coils at this time)
    Differential service (front & rear)
