Tinkering in the garage last night I found out that the Air Silencer has the same size outlet as the air intake hose. My short cone filter has a top opening, but was blocked off by the lower air box. I wanted to move it down into the air box, but didn't have an elbow handy.
So me being cheap and all, I cut the elbow off of the Air Silencer only to discover that the box side was slightly funnel-shaped. I took a propane torch, heated it alittle, and formed it round with, you guessed it, a coffee can.
I removed the foam tape and put it into the filter and hose. The 1/2" hose barb was very easy to install into the plastic elbow.
So now I have another free version of the CAI that I hope will draw more air. No pic's of fabbing it, but a couple of the nearly finished product. I still need to remove it and clean off the tape residue, but had to button it up so I could get to work this morning.
