The folks who put on the Silver State Classic every fall, are also putting on the Nevada Open Road Challenge this May 12-15, 2005, and I thought this might provide a great excuse for an LX get together.
As you can read for yourself at the link, these races are high-speed timed events held on public roads with the full knowledge and support of local law enforcement. I've never actually been to one before, but I thought it sounded like a fun, and legal way to spend some time running my car at triple digits! It is rather expensive for first-timers (though much less than the $8k entry fee for the Cannonball Run Canada, even if those are Canadian dollars!!!), but if there is enough interest, we could enter our own "DCX LX" team in the race.
Even if you aren't interested in the racing, we could still try and organize an LX get together somewhere on the Vegas strip that Friday or Saturday. All of the race competitor cars are part of a "car show" in Ely, NV that Saturday, and since the entrants in the Unlimited class average more than 180mph over the 90mile course there should be some real exotic cars to drool over.
Anyone interested?
