    LX Power Slot Rotors

    Hello LX Crowd,

I have a '06 Magnum 5.7 R/T. I really need to know what the best bolt on rotor/pad combination is. After reading numerous threads about how bad stock rotors are (11.3K on current factory rotors, shaved them once and got the wobble during braking with the noise to boot-again) I know I have to change them. I would like to go with something that has a history to it. Power Slot seems to be a reliable choice with the slotted being slightly better than cross drilled in the heat/warping column. But how about matching the pads? EBC Redstuff/Yellowstuff/Greenstuff/Ultimax, Hawk, Rebestos, Bendix, Centric?

Have heard that Hawk's are noisy and some people just don't like the EBC, but why?

BTW... this is my first post. Have been a member over a year but have always found it very useful to just find a thread to read from.

    Thanks!

    Welcome from the NY/Pa border.

Since you have been here and reading up, have you asked this in the other sections (general or tire/wheel/susp.)? Although you will get responses here, you might get more there.

A record for the longest time to post!!! LOL Welcome.

Power slots and hawks work for me with NO noise. But then again, I'm partly deaf, and I don't go fast enough in my V6!!!

    Welcome to the posting part
I hate the Hawks, they are too noisy for my liking. I've spoken to a very good mechanic, Fargo59, and he says his only stops squawking, maybe that's why they are called Hawks, once they heat up.

I had them on my 97 Ram and they suck and so did the Hawks. After about 30,000 miles they had surface cracks and the pads did not ware even.

yep got the Powerslot + EBC red stuff combo....Powerslot as a company sucks A$$...had 2 issues and they wanted my car layed up for a week so they can look at their crappy rotors....not impressed at all with rotors and the EBC are pretty bad so it makes for a bad combo in my book and I drive rather spirited... get my drift.

don't get me wrong they stop the car....they all do...but powerslot in my book are absolutely not worth the money ...they are a complete rip-off

    oh yeah Welcome aboard

    Hello.

EBC rotors and pads are pretty bad and a good waste of money. Here is why.

Rotors: Their claim to fame is the blind (not drilled thru) holes and slots that go to the end of the rotor. Bad design twofold. The holes clog up with pad material and rust and slowly close up and become like a regular solid rotor over time. The slots are so big that they make horrable noise when you stop. They call it aeroplaning, I call it annoying.

Pads: The pads squeel like a STUFFED pig the first time, every time. I coated the backing plate with brake squeel stop and it did no good. I called the company and they told me to pound salt (good luck getting a PH # for them).

Long story short, do not use EBC.

I now have R1Concepts and Friction Master pads all around on my car and LOVE THEM. I do not drag race or auto cross but they hold up to my very hard driving.

I also have this combo on the front of my wifes Pacifica and have no warping issues with 15 months on them.

Welcome from Oregon. Good luck with the upgraded brakes. Mine have 31K on them and stop great and smooth until you get them hot. Then they shudder and shake, but still stop great.

I still am running stock, and have very slight wobbling when braking...I have hear nothing but goods things on R1 Concept rotors, but unsure of what pads to go with when the new years come.
