That's why most of us go to a lower thermostat (170 or 180) and do a fan mod.

I also use Royal Purple Purple Ice that alone lowered my running temp by 15 degrees

Welcome to the LX yup 180 stat, you will need the Diablo Predator to adjust your fan settings. Alabama says Hi.

the first thing i would check/replace is the radiator cap and then do the t-stat mod.

welcome-and first there are some things to chack out before throwing a 180 t-stat in the car.
you need to check the cooling fan motors to see if the are working correctly.
commen for them or one of them to go south on a LX with more than 40k on the clock.
what year is the car and how many miles on it?
if your runing it hard and the temp climbs-thats a sure sign of a bad fan motoror t=stat problem.
99.99% of the time its A bad fan motor
WHEN THE TEMP hits 220-230 stop-open the hood with the motor runing and carefuly look to see if both fans are turning-they should both be in the high speed mode. chances are the drivers side is burned out [very commen] since that side runs almost all the time

I'd be unstoppable if it wasnt for Physics & Law enforcement
