Newbie woes

Well get this. I pick up my new 05 midnight blue Mag about 2 weeks ago. All is well in the world and I love my new ride. My neighbors even came by to look at the Hemi and drool of the looks of the car. Well I decided to take the car on a road trip for work and test out the Nav and cruising ability. Well while in CT I am cruising at 65 (cruise control) I get rear ended. 500 miles on the clock and I took a nice hit. I think I was hit by a Ford Explorer/Chevy trailblazer. Amazingly I was able to maintain controll and the car was still driveable. i pulled over and my tailight was gone and the bumper and tailgate had damage. I was still on the highway and there was a sign saying no stopping due to the prison on the other side of the fence so I called the police to tell them I will be at the next exit. I waited 1 hour and no police. I drove back to where the accident occured and there was nobody. The next morning I go to the police and they tell me they dont do late reports. My insurance (geico) was fine without the report and they got the car in the shop in no time. Its exactly 3 weeks since I picked up my Mag and i will be getting it out of the shop in the AM after 3600 in damages.

Other than that this is by far the coolest car I have owned and one of the fastest. My son loves it and its just plain cool. I will post pics in a bit.

wow what a story, at least you did not lose it at 65 mph, that could have been very bad.. i guess people just think your suppose to get out of the way... right!!!

yeah mokey, same thing happened to me in the hampton roads bridge tunnel a few years back. guy rear ends me in the middle of the tunnel but the cars were still driveable and so we moved them to the service lane right outside of the tunnel. i call the cops and they tell me that since the vehicles were moved from the scene of the accident they werent coming. and i say, "there is a big a$$ sign all over the tunnel that says "fender bender, move vehicle". and then they hang up on me. oh well, glad to hear you and the mag are ok. cant wait to see some pics.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck with a nimnull on the road. Glad you didn't get whiplash or something. Shame the police wouldn't check you out that close to a prison, etc. Hope that the Gecko doesn't drop you on first problem.

I had an almost similar experience this past saturday night. Fiance and I were on our way north on the Taconic, and some idiot was accelerating and stopping, over and over again in front of us, so I pulled up behind him one lane over, and then started to pass him, he decided to swerve into us.

Thank god for horsepower, did a little swerve, stomped the gas, and took off away from him. Not a scratch on the car, slightly crushed arm from the fiance squeezing it, but otherwise all good.
