    New guy FROM the Midwest

    Hi all,

Just ordered a Vanilla RT AWD last Friday (10/22), trading in a Silverado '02. I'm 57, retired, married for the first time a year ago November to my long-suffering companion of about 20 years. I'm John, she's Jeanne. We are "carguys" not yet ready for Geezerhood. (Sometimes my body would argue that point)

I've already picked up information FROM this board and hope to contribute some in the future. Glad to be here. Thanks to all who make it possible.

    Hi John Theweeb,

Small town in Southwestern Wisconsin. Anywhere near your Midwest?

I was at Ft Carson (Colo Springs) the last half of '67. Beautiful country, looks like Wisconsin - only taller!

Thanks all, for the welcome messages. I appreciate them.

Hey John, grew up in Madison 'till age 10, then three or four bumbleboo towns in Ioway, where I graduated HS in '76. Military (AF) for 20 years after that, including 6 years in Germany. Had a 280Z turbo over there, a blast setting the cruise control on 220KPH (136 mph) on the autobahn...

Good. You got out of Mad City before it could mess with your mind. Congrats on your military career. I was a standard 2 year draftee. Was also in Germany (Augsburg) for a bit in early '68, no car. Had to drive the MP cars. (was in charge of dispatch and maintenance) Clapped-out 6 cyl Fairlanes, about 75mph on the bahn for the best one.

    Loved the beer though!
