In 2001 my wife and I were the owners of a 1994 Chrysler LHS, and when looking for a website to get more information, maintenance procedures, etc, for the car I stumbled accross a fledgling site,
www.dodgeintrepid.net and joined, after reading that the LHS was built on the same platform.
Fast forward to 2003. By now I am a respected (at least in my own mind) moderator and DodgeIntrepid.net is planning its first International Meet, a meet that will eventually become legendary. During the course of planning a member suggested that we should have name tags. (
http://www.dodgeintrepid.net/forums...ead.php?t=19151) Not liking the idea, I jokingly said if someone were to bring tags, I would put one on, but with the name King Winky-Doodle-Pants.
I should have known. JoeKD (a prominent and fellow founding member) decided to print up some name tags with that name and bring them along. Being a man of my word, I wore one for the entire meet. Hilarity did ensue. Especially at the liquor store where I got an understanding nod when I informed the cashier I was in town for a car club meet, and at the classy restaraunt when I kept on being refered to as "His Highness".
Ever since, the name has stuck, because of the name tag and because of the incredible amount of alcohol I managed to consume without seriously injuring myself, and the antics to retrieve me from a bathroom stall afterwards.
Over time is has just been shortened to The King. TehKing came about because DodgeIntrepid.net has an IRC chat room, and when logging on I never noticed I spelled "The" incorrectly, and the name stuck.
