    Thumbs up Hey now

Just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in. Yeah, new SRT8 by 06 300C the dealer wanted to get rid of really bad. This thing can suck more gas than Monica Lewinsky! Damn thing surges as well at low speeds (just off idle) and had that nasty issue when jumping into drive while coming out of reverse real quick.

I was crawling from the wreckage of a Ford Lightning truck when this silver time machine came along. Took me right back to the late 60s and early 70s. The thing seems to be a dog as far as fast goes. That 6.1 will romp, but it sure needs a supercharger. The Lightning felt much faster and sure got better gas mileage!

Don't have a thousand miles on her yet, so there is still a lot of time to tell and I really miss my Lightning. Hope y'all can help me along the way with some ideas about all that damn brake dust, that puny power curve, and surging around town. That stuff should have been taken care of by the dealer.

I see a lot about TSB's. Is there are way to find these to know what the issues really are?

BTW, I'm Ratchet Thunderstud and I'm Southern by the grace of God. I live in 'Bama and I hate football so don't give me any crap about that rivalry. Had enough of that growing up in Texas with parents from "those" two universities. I've been a Mopar man all my life. I had a 57 New Yorker with a 392 Hemi as the first car I ever bought. I popped another 392 in a 49 Ford truck tucked way back so I could pull the front wheels. More stupid **** than I have time to right (oop, pardon my language.)

Anyway, great to be here and can't wait to hear more from you cats so I can get this thing squared away. A good Hypertech or Superchips tuner would make a lot of difference I'm sure.

Have a fine Sunday and God bless you all (cause with cars this fast we need all the good ones on our side),

    Ratchet Thunderstud

Welcome aboard from Maine. As far as supercharging, I think that may be best left till you do all other mods. It might even be wise to upgrade pistons if your goona run boost. Gotta realize the Lightning was built from the factory with a supercharger. If you do heads and cam you might be surprised. Cooler air and a cooler thermostat will make a big difference. Don't know how fast your Lightning was, but some of the 5.7 guys are in the 12's with no boost and A few 6.1's are in the mid 11's I believe either with nitrous or boost. Of course if you run too fast at the track, they'll make you run a rollcage!

    Check here for TSB's:

As far as speed, the lightning is a lot quicker but it won't do you any good if you ever try to take a corner :-) The SRT's have a suspension that's worth a hoot as well, for whatever that's worth to ya. Your mileage should be 15 city, 20+ highway. If not, something's up. You can learn it to be faster by beating the snot out of it for a couple hundred miles. A flash from B&G will also help with your get up and go. I would also recommend intake/heads/cam/headers/exhaust/tune as opposed to a supercharger. You'll see 100 HP gains and not grenade the motor...

    And welcome from Chi-town!
