Good Day everyone. My nick-name is Cricket, and I go by that for all intents and purposes. I live in Panama City, FLorida, but have been working in Portland, Oregon for the last 14 months, and hope to return to FLorida in a couple months.
I bought a new 05 Magnum R/T back in the early days of the wagons, April 04.
All has been great, and I still only have about 40,000 miles on it now. It is Dark Green, and basically a base model, no roof rack(I worry about roof leaks), no sunroof(same reason), and have just a few months ago put on the first tire change, mainly because I did not trust the old rubber, they still had tread on them.
I do have a problem now, and I hope someone can help me, I am 3000 miles away from home, and am in a bad way, sort-of.
This morning my engine light came on, and scared me, but it was not flashing, so I kept driving. After a couple minutes, I started getting smoke coming out from under the hood, with an awfull smell.
I shut off the engine, and opened the hood, and the last coil next to the firewal, drivers side, was melting - kinda like the wicked witch of the west!!
I found a local Dodge dealer, and bought a new coil, thinking it was a fluke, and installed it. Within 3 minutes, more smoke, and a new melted coil. I unplugged it, and continued driving, as the dealer said I could do that to get somewhere, and now am in a quandry. Money is tight, very tight, and I was hoping this could be diagnosed without going to a stealer and hooking to a machine, could get expensive.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Cricket
