    For you zoomers owners

Had a problem every time I hit a bump-I would here a clank noise-took it to the shop and the black cross support bar on the car( not sure of the exact name) the exhaust pipes were hitting this, so shop put in some spacers on the cross bar and problem solved....

Common problem. And a royal PITA. Mine keeps recuring. Its not necessarily the Zoomers. It can be the simple fact that someone fooled with the pipes or... its the cats coming loose. Those floating bolts love to come loose, which drops the cats a bit which drops the pipes which... you get the idea.

I have spacers made out of slugs of billet aluminum that are roughly 1/4" thick. Maybe a tad more. My pipes are rattling right now.

One fix is to loosen the cats, shim them. Tighten them up and their new position should be higher. Until they come loose again. Not even double-nutting works forever. I am going safety wire next time I have the car in the shop. Until then up it goes on ramps and I crawl under the dam thing to tighten them up.

See my posts in the "Zoomers fixed" thread. I'm having a slight rattle issue at certain rpms. Ron at Zoomers also suggested the crossmember, as I don't seem to have any loose clamps.

I had the same "clanking" sound. Then, this past weekend I developed a rattle. So, I loosened the bolts on both sides of the x-pipe. Shimmed it up with a 1/2" block of wood. Then tightened up the bolts. Last thing is to remove the block of wood. Afterwards I could tell that the x-pipe was a little higher and further away from the crossmember. So far, no more rattling; and no more clanking when hitting those big dips in the road. Knock on that block of wood!! LOL

I've got the same issue right now, had my car dynoed on Sunday and when backing up the incline the cross member hit the edge of the dyno and twisted up coming in contact with mid pipes. Takin it off tomorrow and replacing it with a new one. Just have to add a few washers inbetween the frame and cross member and you should be good. Good luck.

Sounds like it is maybe my x-pipe contacting the crossmember. But I wonder why it is only at a certain RPM range. Maybe those frequencies are enough to cause the vibration which I can hear.

Is that cross member really a structural part of the car? I thought it was for resting the exhaust on during production...
