Will there ever be a Roots (style) Blower on the 6.1L Hemi??

    Hi all,

I'm just curious if there will ever be a roots style supercharger available for the 6.1L Hemi? or even the 5.7L Hemi?

I'm asking cause I'd like to buy a Magnum SRT8, but I want to know if the performance options will be there before I buy.

    Thanks,
    Aaron

Armadillo had a prototype one-off one on his Magnum at SEMA in November 06. Other than he couldn't close the hood and there isn't great tuning out yet I don't see why they won't be available at some point.

Kinda makes you wonder why somebody ^^^^^ was so anxious to put a 6.1 in his RT...

I would be too if I could get a discounted Roots blower.

why would you blow all that money installing a 6.1 on when you can accomplish the same on a slightly smaller pulley with the roots?

Ya aint' going to be doing much boost on either engine without going to forged pistons either... so... spend that swap money pistons and rods on the 5.7 ;-)

Cam - that's fine, you can kill me after you tell me because at that moment I'd die happy :-)

I didn't know armadillo couldn't close his hood, but something like the ramair hood should be able to be hogged out to clear a supercharger in the center of the engine bay. I refuse to consider a S/C until a real blower becomes available. I know the centrifugals work, but it just ain't the same.

I thought the look of the Roots blower looked awesome and i do recall armadillo was mentioning something about the clearances for the hood. But the big question is has it run yet and if so how well? When i talked to him all he had was a couple items to take care of to get it running. Just hope he can make this motor last.

I think the Roots blower will allow even air/fuel mix for each cylinder, vs trying to ram air into a manifold that was not designed for a blower. I drove my last Toyota 150,000 troublefree miles with one, and the blower was the making of that truck, they can be a mite loud though.

There is a completed intake manifold for the 5.7 that was fitted for a 6-71 blower. Their working on the 6.1 as we speak. These are also based off of carbed crate motors with stand alone t/f systems. My only concern with the roots blower is, will the stock PCM pick up false knock due to the noise coming off the rotors? It's the same reason we can't use a timing gear drive.
