Whats the final verdict, cross member needed or not?

I remember there was much debate over if the cross member underneath the car was needed or not. I just ordered an SLP LM2, and I have heard from other members that the brace needs to be removed. NOt sure if anyone made spacers, or if it actually needs to come off, but did we ever decide this was totally necessary to have on the vehicle?

    no.

I tried spacers on mine and but still rattled. Just a little less. After fighting it for a year or so I pulled it off and never looked back.

I see RE makes this, and people 'claim' that over time the rigidity wears down so you dont really notice, but when you put it back on you def feel it stiffen back up. Its my wifes daytona so I dont want to take chances, but dont want to spend 100 bucks on snake oil either

Maybe any SLP owners can comment?

The one worry I have with those components is ground clearance. IIRC you lose 1/2" on stock with that crossbrace, and about the same for the side braces. I don't have that to spare when running my car hard over a race course.

Doing anything less than road racing with the car, I have to wonder if you need bracing in the first place... and if you are road racing ... we all run short tires and ... can't use the braces.

AFAIK, the brace is there for NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness). It'snot structural.

ironically, many of us remove it because it causes noise with exhausts.

i left mine off. i can see it being there to isolate any vibrations in the floor pans. 4 m6 bolts are not enough to tie in a structural crossmember.

OK, Ill skip the RE brace for now and if that needs to come off Ill take it off and save it. Being a daytona I want to make sure it lasts a long time so I dont want to do anything that messes the car up over time

I have read some information here that is structual, that the engineers saw significant flexing in the central area of the car. I think long term it would be noticed, with rattles especially in the interior. They put it there for a reason, not because they had some left over metal. I put a Borla on it did not clear so I bought the razors edge along with thier front and rear tower braces. Can you say happy? I can!

I didn't just make that NVH stuff up.

A SRT engineer stated that in one of their online chats.

damn, see this is how the last thread went. people for and against. I really dont want to spend the extra money. Maybe Ill leave it off and get the RE brace in teh future. Ive never been a fan of tower braces or anything like that, I think they are a waste of money and are only in your head.
