Nor do other manufacturers with the same battery technology. Kinda sucks.

I ended up getting mine replaced under warranty.

Yeah, if this similar to all chrysler batteries, expect it to crap out after a few years. i'm suprised it hasn't crapped out on me yet. On my 05' durango battery died in 2 years. I just bought one of those lifetime batteries @ AutoZone. I know... i know lol!

An easy to find replacement battery is the size "49-1", most auto stores will have them in stock. It is bigger than the stock battery (more amps) and it has the vent tube. You won't be able to reuse the stock bolt down clamp, but the stock battery strap will work. The battery won't move around and the strap is all you need.

I got mine at Advance Auto Parts, forget what I paid - it is reasonable.

    Some photos for you.

I put in a Yellow Top when my car was new. It fits fine, the strap is adjustable and the clamp on the bottom will fit.

Have a picture? I seem to remember an issue with terminals sticking up, when I was looking.

Optima (red or yellow) are the best... whether or not they have one that fits, I don't know.

Now that you can buy them at Wal-Mart, the price has really come down over the last few years.

I have learned over the last 6-8 years that optimas are great if you drive the car everyday. If it sits for long periods of time, the battery will fail. I have a 94 ford centurion (4 door fullsize bronco 1 ton) and it is driven 3-5k a year, and an optima will last about 11 months. My magnum, has lasted over a year so far

working in a parts store, its been my experience (and the guys in the store will say the same)that Optimas are crap. for what they are, they have a high failure rate.

i am surprised to hear a Mopar battery died after 2 years. the original Mopar battery in my '99 Ram i replaced this past october, it tested maybe 75cca lower than it should, but figured since i get a discount might as well.

Duralast batteries are actually rated one of the tops according to Consumers Digest.
they are made by Johnson Controls, who also makes Diehard batteries as well.

I purchased red tops for both vehicles that I owned about 10-12 years ago. They worked flawlessly until I sold the vehicles about 6 years later. Perhaps it is cheaper components/manufacturing driving the price reductions and not competition from Wal-Mart. Too bad.
